Yesterday, my husband donned his Bionic Elite gardening gloves and decided to dig up half of my back garden for a vegetable patch. This morning, he cant move and says his back is in agony. Some would say its because of his improper method of bending, I say its justice. Nevertheless I have looked up the prevention of back related problems whilst gardening.
*Warm up before you start work
*Vary your tasks and change position every 10-20 mins
*Dont overload your fork , spade or wheel barrow
*Lift properly, bend your knees not your back and keep your feet wide apart
*Choose tools carefully, go for long handled lightweight ones
*Avoid over stretching
*Oil and service mowers and tools regularly
*use a kneeler in the garden
*Relax afterwards
*my personal favourite is use a quality pair of Bionic Gardening gloves to reduce the fatigue in your hands!
